Perhaps just a bit condescending

Today, the MacZOT site tells us how to lure developers into selling applications at $1 a copy:

I told them, “C’mon, think about all the attention you’ll get for your applications.” - that perked their ears a bit cuz remember, they’re coders, not sales and marketing types.

If a 'sales and marketing' type came to me and offered to sell my app for a dollar (while taking 50% commission I imagine) I'd be perking up my middle finger rather than my ears.

Brian Ball (the MacZOT guy) approached us about giving away our main product in the 13th deal... effectively selling the app for $1 to end users and earning 50 cents for ourselves. I told him he was crazy.

Let's assume they sell 1000 copies, we get $500 and have 1000 new customers to support, and we lose some number of sales at full price. Despite and short term traffic, I feel it is a lose-lose situation for us.

Why would anyone agree to this?

If we are "just coders", than MacZOT is just a sleezy used car lot.
